Definition

Colors and sizes vocabulary allows students to describe objects, clothing, and other items by their color (rojo, bleu, rot, 红色) and size (grande, petit, groß, 大). In many languages, color words function as adjectives and must agree with the noun they modify.

Examples

  • Spanish: 'La camisa azul es grande' (The blue shirt is large) — 'azul' doesn't change for gender.
  • French: 'La petite robe noire' (The little black dress) — both adjectives agree with feminine 'robe.'
  • German: 'Das rote Auto ist klein' (The red car is small).
