Definition

Decimal conversions involve changing numbers between decimal, fraction, and percent forms. Understanding these conversions is essential for comparing values expressed in different formats.

How It Works

  1. Decimal to fraction: write the decimal over its place value and simplify
  2. Decimal to percent: multiply by 100 and add the % sign
  3. Fraction to decimal: divide the numerator by the denominator
  4. Percent to decimal: divide by 100

Examples

  • 0.75 = 3/4 = 75%
  • 1/8 = 0.125 = 12.5%
