Definition

A parallelogram is a quadrilateral with both pairs of opposite sides parallel. Its properties include: opposite sides are congruent, opposite angles are congruent, consecutive angles are supplementary, and diagonals bisect each other.

Examples

  • A rectangle is a parallelogram with four right angles
  • A rhombus is a parallelogram with four equal sides
  • Proving a quadrilateral is a parallelogram by showing diagonals bisect each other
