Definition

Graphs of equations written in polar form r = f(θ), plotted on a polar coordinate system. Common shapes include circles, cardioids, rose curves, and limaçons.

Examples

  • r = 2 is a circle of radius 2 centered at the origin
  • r = 1 + cos θ is a cardioid (heart-shaped curve)
  • r = cos(3θ) is a three-petaled rose curve
