Root word families

Groups of words that share a common root, meaning they are derived from the same base word from Latin, Greek, or another origin language. Recognizing root word families allows students to decode unfamiliar words by connecting them to known words with the same root.
Examples
- The Latin root "scrib/script" (to write) connects: describe, inscription, manuscript, scripture
- The Greek root "photo" (light) connects: photograph, photosynthesis, photon
- The Latin root "duct" (to lead) connects: conduct, educate, deduce, introduce
