Self-introduction
Foreign LanguagesDefinition
Self-introduction covers the essential phrases and structures needed to introduce yourself in a foreign language, including stating your name, age, nationality, where you live, and what you do. It is typically one of the first skills learned in any language course.
How It Works
- Greet the person (Bonjour / Hola / Hallo)
- State your name (Je m'appelle... / Me llamo... / Ich heiße...)
- Give your age (J'ai 16 ans / Tengo 16 años / Ich bin 16 Jahre alt)
- Say where you're from or where you live
- Mention a hobby or interest
- End politely (Enchanté / Mucho gusto / Freut mich)
Examples
- Bonjour, je m'appelle Marie. J'ai seize ans et j'habite à Paris.
- Hola, me llamo Carlos. Tengo quince años y soy de México.
- Hallo, ich heiße Anna. Ich bin siebzehn und komme aus Berlin.
