Categories used to classify characters based on their complexity and role in a story. The main types include protagonist (main character), antagonist (opposing force), flat (one-dimensional), round (complex), static (unchanging), and dynamic (changing).

Examples

  • Protagonist: Harry Potter is the main character driving the story
  • Antagonist: Voldemort opposes the protagonist's goals
  • Flat/static character: A background character like a shopkeeper who appears briefly and doesn't change
