Prepositions of place are words that describe where something or someone is located in relation to another object. In French, common examples include sur (on), sous (under), devant (in front of), derrière (behind), and entre (between).

Examples

  • Le chat est sous la table. (The cat is under the table.)
  • Le livre est sur le bureau. (The book is on the desk.)
  • La pharmacie est entre la banque et le café. (The pharmacy is between the bank and the café.)
