Prepositions of location are words that describe the spatial relationship between objects or places, such as 'in,' 'on,' 'under,' 'between,' and 'next to.' In many languages, these prepositions affect the grammatical case or form of the noun that follows them.

Examples

  • French: 'sur la table' (on the table), 'sous le lit' (under the bed), 'dans la boîte' (in the box)
  • Spanish: 'en la mesa' (on the table), 'entre los libros' (between the books)
  • German: 'auf dem Tisch' (on the table — dative case after 'auf' for location)
