Sampling methods
MathDefinition
Techniques used to select individuals from a population for a study. Common methods include simple random sampling, stratified sampling, cluster sampling, and systematic sampling. The goal is to obtain a sample that represents the population accurately.
Examples
- Simple random sample: drawing 50 names from a hat containing all students' names
- Stratified sample: selecting students proportionally from each grade level
- Cluster sample: randomly choosing 5 classrooms and surveying every student in those rooms
