One-step equations solved by adding the same number to both sides to isolate the variable. These are basic equations where a number is subtracted from the unknown.

How It Works

  1. Identify the number being subtracted from the variable.
  2. Add that number to both sides of the equation.
  3. Simplify to find the value of the variable.

Examples

  • x − 7 = 12 → add 7 to both sides → x = 19
  • y − 3.5 = 10 → y = 13.5
