Congress
Definition
The legislative branch of the United States federal government, responsible for making laws, controlling the federal budget, and providing oversight of the executive branch. It is a bicameral body consisting of the Senate (100 members) and the House of Representatives (435 members).

- Congress declaring war, as it did after the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941
- The Senate confirming Supreme Court justices nominated by the president
- The House of Representatives initiating impeachment proceedings
