Definition

Division equations are one-step equations where the variable is divided by a number. To solve, multiply both sides by the divisor to isolate the variable.

How It Works

  1. Identify the number dividing the variable
  2. Multiply both sides of the equation by that number
  3. Simplify to find the value of the variable

Examples

  • x/5 = 3 → x = 15
  • y/(-2) = 7 → y = -14
  • n/4 = 2.5 → n = 10
