Definition

A type of data visualization that plots pairs of numerical values as points on a two-dimensional graph. Scatterplots are used to identify trends, correlations, and outliers between two variables.

Examples

  • A scatterplot of car age vs. resale price showing a negative trend
  • Plotting daily temperature against ice cream sales to reveal a positive correlation
